Info Oil: The uses of olive oil
Olive oil is extensively brought to use in cooking.
Extra virgin and virgin types of olive oil
are widely used as salad dressing, for canning vegetables and in order to add flavour to other food products. Its high smoke point makes it perfect for frying.
Olive oil is valued nutritionally because of its high content of mono-unsaturates (mainly oleic acid). It has a lot of beneficial effects due to antioxidizing potency of phenol and tocopherol compounds (sources of vitamin E) and also helps to reduce cholesterol.
The flavour of olive oil can vary depending on distinctions such as growing region, the olive variety, the harvest methods, the degree of olive maturity.
