The Carozzi agricultural and agritourism
company – Melendugno (LE)
is located in the Melendugno countryside and possesses about 70
hectares large olive grove. The company centre is formed
by an ancient unit, consisting of an observation tower, a fortification
and a small church on the altar of which, on Lecce stone (pietra leccese)
is engraved the year 1782. Among the recent constructions there are
one and two- roomed flats where the tourists that appreciate the countryside
peaceful life find the hospitality and the excellence of the products
that the company offers to its clients .
The extra virgin olive oil,  produced
in a traditional way, is extracted from the olives being milled in
the company oil mill, straight after been gathered, in order to intensify
their scent and a fruity flavour. Already in the past the company
was engaged in the production of the DOP Terra d’Otranto extra-virgin
olive oil of a briliant dark green colour, a pungent smell and a sour
fruity taste with a slight sensation of bitter and spicy, which was
meant for the most refined and demanding palate. |
